About the Author
Claire
Kinton is an adventurous new author from Lincoln, England. Dead Game, her
allegorical debut novel, is the first book in ‘The Game Trilogy’ and with a
global, spiritual revolution stirring; her story could not be more apt for our
time. It is an epic reflection of our wanting to connect with something
bigger than ourselves; a beautiful story entwining patriotic family values and
tradition with profound philosophy and spirituality and at the same time is the
deepest love story.
Dead Game was shortlisted for
the Brit Writers Awards Unpublished 2010 and came eighth in the multimedia
Shorty Awards 2011, in the author’s category, three places behind JK
Rowling. Being Chair of her children’s primary school PTA and the schools
Special Educational Needs Governor, Claire also supports and works closely with
Dyslexia Action, and ran the Virgin London Marathon 2012 raising £2,000 for
them. When Claire’s own three children are at school, after writing, she
spends her time working in schools, talking publicly about The Game
Trilogy, as well as talking about the charities she supports, whilst taking
imaginative and fun creative writing sessions. Her motto being ‘if you can’t learn to read, you can’t read to learn’.
Claire’s inspiration to write Dead Game was ignited following the tragic death of her
cousin, who served in Iraq. Stricken with grief and pregnant with her
first child, Claire found writing her way of coping with her
bereavement. Witnessing at first hand the heartbreak of loss that conjures
a multitude of emotions, spurred Claire on to complete her trilogy. Dead Game is Claire’s way of answering poignant
questions we all find ourselves asking from time to time. Uplifting all
those who have ever loved and lost, it strives to put forward one answer to
death and is an allegorical story of bravery, acceptance, friendship,
trust and love, but in the same breath it is the ultimate adventure propelled
by the inconceivable motivation to survive.
